Smart Agent is a mobile embedded software which interacts with the handset environment to enhance Mobile Portal or other client software features. It takes advantage of the mobile phone components (camera), devices (SIM card), networks (GSM, 3G, HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth) and bearers (SMS, MMS, TCP IP).

Smart Agent brings complementary features for software distribution, security and network interactions.

• Distribution: thanks to Smart Agent which is already embedded in handsets ROM, it becomes possible to install new services from the SIM, from multimedia cards or from the network (OTA).
• Security: Smart Agent can bring enhanced security mechanisms for mobile applications. Based on information stored in the SIM, the multimedia card or on the network, it can activate or deactivate features, retrieve keys and act as a firewall.
• Environment and network interactions: Smart Agent is able to retrieve content in push or pull mode on any type of bearer. It can detect local networks as well (WiFi or Bluetooth). Finally, Smart Agent can interact with handset embedded devices: SIM, camera, MMC / SD cards.
